Dear Friends and Family,
My grandfather, Bob McMillian, has been diagnosed with leukemia. He is 86 years old and has, for the most part, had a very healthy life until recently. He is a Christian and seems to have a lot of peace about his future, which also gives us peace.
Grandpa Bob depends on blood transfusions to maintain his strength and well-being at this point. In his honor we will be hosting a blood drive in the near future, so he can possibly be a part of it and/or know of it. We are asking you to please consider donating blood on behalf of my grandpa. This blood will not go to him directly, but will greatly help him and other individuals. During the Christmas season blood donations drop greatly due to everyone's busy schedules.
The blood drive will be at The Sports Academy in Glen Carbon, IL on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2012. To do this we need names and numbers of at least 20 people who are committed to giving blood. We will turn these names in to The American Red Cross.
Please feel free to forward this information on to anyone who may be interested in giving as well.
Thank you for your time and help to do this for Grandpa Bob! If all goes well with this event, The Sports Academy would like to make this blood drive an annual event in honor of Bob McMillian and Jenn Schrimpf. Jenn also knows the importance of blood transfusions as she was diagnosed with leukemia in March of 2009. She has been in remission since July 2009.
If you are able to donate blood on the evening of January 10, please send an email to
