Elite FT’s new Soccer Speed Training (SST) program has combined the knowledge of EFT’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Tate Merten and Program Director, Justin McMillian to bring a new, exciting training regimen for the local soccer community. The new Soccer Speed Training program involves intense training exercises both with and without the ball to teach players the proper mechanics of speed.

3 new training programs are introduced under SST: Ball Quickness, Running Form and Soccer Fitness. Each program is one hour sessions, 2 days a week for 4 weeks. SST programs are offered in the winter and summer.

Running Form is for players ages 9-12. This is the foundation of SST. In this program, the athletes will be taught the correct running form (using arms, driving knees, leaning forward, etc) for the first half of the program. The second half of the program will challenge the players to have the proper form, while using a soccer ball.

Soccer Fitness is for players ages 13-18. This SST program is for the older more advanced athletes. Participants will focus on all of the following: footspeed, upper and lower body strengthening, plyometrics, agility, acceleration and fitness. Players attending should be expected to have a moderate fitness level before participating.

Ball Quickness is for players ages 9-18. This SST program will focus on the players’ footspeed, agility and acceleration to improve overall quickness. Incorporating exercises without and then with the ball challenges the players to improve their speed and technical ability.
